Tribute is being held here http://slurl.com/secondlife/Taygete/194/178/24 this year!
Welcome to the 2011 SL Veteran’s Tribute which will be held from Sunday, November 6th to Sunday, November 13th. Believe it or not this is the 5th annual Veteran’s Tribute that we have put together. While this years event is on a smaller scale (due to real life contraints) we did feel that it was important to have the Veteran's Wall out so that people are able to visit it.
While this years SLVT may be on a smaller scale it does not mean that we do not have events planned. Fortunately this year our hosts are the famous SL Flying Tigers and on Veteran's Day (Friday, November 11th) they will be performing an air show above the sim starting at 5 PM SLT. Below is the schedule for the show:
5:00 PM - Golden Tigers
5:30 PM - WW2 Flyover
6:00 PM - Second Life Coast Guard (SLCG)
6:30 PM - 23rd Flyover
7:00 PM - Historical Flyover
7:30 PM - Golden Tigers
On Saturday, November 12th there is going to be a day of music on the sim...this will be a combination of Live Singers and Live DJ's starting at 12 PM SLT. We are still working on the schedule but it is going to start at noon and go till it stops? but we can say its going to be at least 4+ hours worth!!
There will be a host of static displays around the sim to view along with information booths from several awesome groups that suport both veterans and active duty service personel such as:
- U.S. Military Veterans Center
- National Native American Veterans Association
- Flying Tigers (Hosts of the 2011 SLVT)
- Second Life Coast Guard
While visiting the SLVT this year you should also visit the Second Life World War II Memorial which is permanently housed on the sim. This Memorial is a scaled replica of the original memorial located in Washington D.C. The SL version was commissioned by the SL Flying Tigers and built by RL architect, Deusen Marx. The purpose of this Memorial is to honor the sacrifices of a generation and commemorate the allied victory in World War II.
We hope you enjoy this years SLVT and remember all the men and women that have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice so much to allow us to enjoy the lives we live today.
